Awards and Recognition
On an annual basis, Grande Prairie & Area Safe Communities honours individuals, organizations and businesses with an Ambassador for Safety award. The award recognizes a commitment and dedication to health, safety and injury reduction to make Grande Prairie and area the safest place to live, learn, work and play. These individuals, organizations and businesses have played an important role to reduce the impact of illness and injury in our community.These awards have been presented in Grande Prairie since the year 2000. Past recipients include doctors, schools, construction companies and everyday extraordinary people like you.Safe Communities Canada established their Ambassador for Safety Awards in 2007 to allow designated members of Safe Communities Canada to recognize and celebrate key contributors to the community’s development and execution of various initiatives to reduce the cost and pain of injuries, both intentional and unintentional, and to promote a culture of safety for all of its citizens during the previous year.
