About Us
Our History
The Friends of Grande Prairie Regional EMS Society was incorporated as an Alberta Society in 2000 and received status as a Public Foundation through Canada Revenue Agency shortly thereafter.
The mission of the organization is to raise funds to support the purchase of Emergency Medical Services equipment and to provide funding for public education activities.
In April 2007, the board of directors for the Friends of GPREMS Society expanded the scope of their mission to support EMS from the city of Grande Prairie and surrounding area, to include rural and urban communities across the 13 EMS stations within Peace Country Health.
At the 2007 Annual General Meeting for the Friends of GPREMS Society, a special resolution was put forward to the membership, and unanimously approved, to change the name to the Regional Emergency Medical
Services (EMS) Foundation, and to amend the by-laws to take into account the new regional structure of the organization.
The official name change was accepted by Service Alberta on September 6, 2007 and Canada Revenue Agency September 02, 2008.
